An Introduction to QBasic

MS-QBasic is a simple programming langauge that our buddy Bill Gates wrote way back in 1975. Basic is simple to use and easy to learn incorporating english words into the langauge. Basic comes (came) with MS-Dos and there for is also widely accepted and a uniform language to learn on.

Though amoung the different versions there are variances to the keywords, (these are words that the computer recognizes as commands) most users will find the lessons on this site useful. However, each user should be aware of subtle differences (espeacially on Macs). The lessons will work prgressively upward in difficulty, however, most users should be able to complete all the lessons and have some reasonable programming skill when they are done. Users who are concerned they do not know enough math to program should not worry. Though mathmatics is an important part of programming, problem solving skills are MORE important. Basic always provides more then one way of solving a problem.

If you are familiar with computers, and feel you are ready to begin, by all means go on to lesson 1: Saying Hello. This simple lesson is always fun toplay with. So enjoy.
